Capabilities

At Eagle Mold we have the expertise, knowledge and resources to turn your concept into reality.
X
Design:

Plastic Injection Molds are our specialty, but at Eagle Mold our experienced design staff can conquer your design problems whether you need product design, tooling design, or tooling modification with the use of Unigraphics 3D CAD software.

Machining:

Eagle Mold’s CNC milling department uses state of the art high speed machining centers. A Robotic machining cell capable of changing 140 work pieces unattended allows 24/7 machining of mold components and electrodes. High RPM temperature compensating spindles allow direct machining into hardened tool steel while maintaining very close tolerances.

For large molds we can machine components up to 5000 lbs/2270 kg.

Wire EDM:
Eagle Mold has multiple high speed auto threading submerged cut wire machines that can cut up to 16”/400mm thick material and weight capacity of 3300 lbs/ 1500kg.
Sinker EDM:
We have a large EDM department; all machines have robotic tool changers for unattended 24/7 burning. We have fine-tuned our EDM procedure for the fastest production time while maintaining extremely close tolerances and excellent surface finish. Eagle Mold also has small hole EDM capability down to .020”/ .5mm diameter.
Inspection:
Eagle Mold uses shop floor CMM inspection of in process components and electrodes to control and monitor the quality of all products. We also can reverse engineer from your part or tool for projects without existing CAD data.
Mold Trial:
Eagle Mold has access to Molding presses up to 650 tons so we can put our molds to the ultimate test before we ship them. Our customers can be assured their mold will produce good parts from the first shot.

Case Study:

Ergonomic Hammer Handle

Eagle Mold awarded in the Single Part Category of the 28th annual Conference and Design Competition of the SPI Structural Plastics Division.. March, 2000

The handle product design called for two different color rubbers molded over a plastic skeleton, which was then assembled onto the steel hammer shaft. Also the handle would be asymmetrical, so there would be right and left hand versions. Eagle Mold designed and built all the mold tooling for this project.

Eagle Mold in cooperation with Goshen Rubber’s Palmer Plant had to design the skeleton that would seal in the two overmold tools and also provide a flow path for the overmolded rubber. Another problem was how the robots could hold and position the skeleton in the overmolds. Eagle Mold designed and built a core type fixture that fit inside the skeleton and would stay in place though both overmolding processes, then be removed and reused. The finished handles are shipped to Emerson for assembly to the steel head and shaft.

The final result was a success and has won numerous awards for design and manufacturing:
